Baby Talk: Personalized Gifts for the Youngest Family Members
04/04/2012 19:14
Every year, it seems, someone we know is fortunate enough to welcome a new family member into the world... And then it is incumbent upon us to come up with a suitably unique gift for the forthcoming baby shower! While many expectant Moms are happy to get those utilitarian items that they will surely need and use, plenty of gift-givers are not content to deliver such patented gifts.
Appreciation Is Its Own Reward
It sounds like something Yogi Berra would say, but it's true: Thinking "outside of the box" has become the norm. Those gifts that stand out are the ones that come with signature flair when you have them personalized. (All that means, from a manufacturing standpoint, is that the gift has the baby's name on it.) Of course, that doesn't mean anything to the actual baby in such events, since he or she hasn't been born yet. To the parents, though, the extra touch is sure to be appreciated.
Keep It in the Family
Personalized gifts for kids, or even personalized baby shower gifts aren't merely unique; they're also easily obtained and nowhere as expensive as they used to be. Monogramming, in particular, is a simple way to add personalization to items such as clothing, bibs and baby blankets while adding almost nothing extra to the regular purchase price. Adding names to toys is a good way, also, to keep them in the family (so to speak). The same can be said of strollers, diaper bags and anything else that you'd rather not have to replace.
It is no stretch, also, to say that a personalized baby book may have a bit more of a family impact than any sort of generic, "fill-in-the-blank" sort of keepsake. To a lesser extent, the same notion applies to items like picture frames, bookends and stuffed animals. That personalized touch is what puts all of these things in the all-important childhood status of "Most Favorite" long before he or she will ever know it.
